Aside from being so unbelievably cute, I've found these dogs to be extremely smart. The King Charles Spaniel is a very loving dog that is so great with kids and families. They are the ultimate lap dog....they follow you where ever you go just waiting for the chance to hop in your lap.
This breed is neither shy nor aggressive. They do not make a good watch dog since all they want to do is love you and have you pet them. That's pretty much it. They are playful if you want to play but if you want to just hang out, they'll hang out with you.
They are great for apartment life or a home with a spacious back yard. I've read that some King Charles are somewhat difficult to train but my little Sammie took about 10 days to housebreak. Even more impressive, I also trained her to ring a doggie door bell for when she wants to go outside. (see the product page for actual door bell that I bought)
